Belem Architecture

Two remarkable buildings mark Belem, a stately parish of Lisbon. They are the Torre de Belem (the Tower of Belem) and the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos (Jerónimos Monastery). Remarkable they should be, too, since Belem is the site from where numerous Portuguese explorers departed on their voyages to worlds old and new.

Sintra

The city of Sintra leads an existence of picture postcard tranquillity. Nestled amongst the hills of the Serra de Sintra it is a historic place that has been a centre of religious, royal and armoured life at various points since the early Iberians settled in the area. Its historic centre is a World Heritage Site.

The Douro Valley

Delightful place though the Portuguese city of Porto is, many head to the city to immediately head out of it. For there is one thing that the region to the east of Porto- called the Douro Valley- has that nowhere else does… and that is the sweet and lovely Port wine.
